Changes to the fees for aged care from 1 July 2014

The fees are going UP!

There are significant changes being made to the way individuals are being assessed for assisted care when it comes to entering an aged care facility.  From the 1st of July this year there will additional tests in relation to a person's assets over and above the current assessable income test.  This may result in people paying a substantially higher level of fees if they enter care after the 30th of June 2014 rather than before.

While the decision to enter care is generally thrust upon someone, there may be some imperative to enter care prior to 30 June this year if it is a possibility in the near future.  We have and continue to assist clients and their families in deciphering the complex financial nature of entering an aged care facility.  If you would like to chat to someone about the changes please contact our office on 02 9899 3044 and ask for Patrick O'Leary in our Financial Planning team.
